MESABA LABOR COALITION

Welcome to the Mesaba Labor Coalition website.

The Mesaba Labor Coalition - through its member unions - represents over 1500 hard-working, professional pilots, flight attendants and mechanics who work at Mesaba Airlines. Represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, and the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, these dedicated workers made Mesaba one of the premier regional airlines in the industry.

In the Mesaba Labor Coalition ALPA, AFA-CWA and AMFA have combined forces, united by the common interests of the Mesaba workforce. Close coordination and mutual support through the Labor Coalition has allowed each union, and the members they represent, to better navigate the harsh economic environment of the airline industry. The work of the Coalition took on even greater importance when Mesaba entered bankruptcy near the end of 2005.

Through the Labor Coalition the leaders and negotiators for each labor group were able to share information, double check management's bargaining claims, coordinate negotiations strategy and present a unified response to Mesaba's bankruptcy. Lawyers for the Coalition unions coordinated the legal response. And, members of the Coalition unions supported each other at rallies, on the picket line and in the workplace.

Formed out of common interests, the Coalition continues to thrive. Long after Mesaba's bankruptcy has ended, the Mesaba Labor Coalition will continue to work together to protect and promote the interests of all Mesaba Airlines workers.
